JA Finance Park® is a no-cost to New Jersey schools, hands-on educational program that helps students grades 7-12 meet state standards and graduation requirements. In conjunction with Junior Achievement of New Jersey, on May 3 PGB volunteers Rick Barfuss, Larry Clifton, David Collum, Marge Dzwonczyk, Maureen Hemhauser, Anthony Iuso, Ken Lemmert, Christopher McManus, Janine Murtha, Rosanne Schwab, Glenn Straffi, Latosha Taylor and Peter Wallburg (below left) served as mentors, guiding students and facilitating conversations about real life budgeting and financial decision making. Each volunteer worked with a group of 6-10 students for a full-day of coaching, sharing stories of education and work experience while encouraging wise consumer choices. This high-impact experience was held at the JA Finance Park® facility in Edison, New Jersey....

The Building Our Youth’s Development (B.O.Y.D.) program held the final round of its 2nd Annual Business Plan Contest yesterday at Joyce Kilmer Elementary School in Trenton, the culmination of a process that began in June with a group of 12 select 6th-8th grade students. These students who underwent weekly revisions of their six-tier business plans which included mission and vision statements, a target market analysis, a sustainability statement, a promotional plan, and a detailed budget, presented their ideas before a panel of judges which included Byron Hopkins of Allstate Insurance Company; Catherine Milone-Richards, President of JA-NJ; Celeste Hardrick, Education Manager of JA-NJ; and Michael Troutman, Program and Marketing Manager of JA-NJ....

Well, Wal-Mart has answered “yes” to these questions by providing $25,000 to fund 37 JA classroom programs in three NJ elementary schools, impacting over 800 students. Wal-Mart has “adopted” three regional school programs: north, central and south Jersey in which 80 High School Heroes students will be teaching the JA curriculum to 740 elementary school students in 37 classrooms statewide......
