Team from New Jersey Participates in the 2022 JA Titan® National Virtual Competition
May 17, 2022, Edison, New Jersey – A team of students from New Jersey is participating in the 2022 JA Titan® National Virtual Competition, a simulation that provides teens the opportunity to start and run a business.
With a focus on financial literacy and insights into the workforce, the JA Titan® National Virtual Competition brings business economics to life. As students work in teams to make financial decisions about production, marketing, research, and development (R&D), and corporate social responsibility (CSR), they begin to see how every choice made in an organization relates to its future success.
The challenge, made possible through the support of the Janus Henderson Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Janus Henderson Investors, is a national competition in which high school students compete as business CEOs in the phone industry, experiencing firsthand how an organization evaluates alternatives, makes decisions, analyzes the outcomes of those decisions, and then strategizes what to do next. Student teams from across the United States will compete for the chance to win prizes and bragging rights, being named the JA Titan® of Business. The JA Titan® National Virtual Competition takes place on May 18 and 19, 2022.
This year, JA of New Jersey students Vanshika Yadav and Kavya Venkatesan have earned their place to participate in the national competition. Since both students previously took part in JA Titan and participated through the JA Student Leadership Committee earlier this year, they were eligible to be in the national competition.
Kavya Venkatesan, a sophomore at Old Bridge High School, has been involved with JANJ programs for the past five years, representing JANJ at the CNBC Financial Literacy and Business for a Sustainable Tomorrow Summits. Currently, she serves on the Women’s Future Leadership Academy Council. In the future, Kavya aspires to pursue a career in the intersection of computer science, healthcare and business while giving back to her community.
Vanshika Yadav is a sophomore at Bridgewater-Raritan High School. Her first exposure to JA was in middle school when she competed in the 2019-2020 New Jersey JA Titan competition. Since then, Vanshika has increased her involvement by joining the Women's Future Leadership Academy Council. Outside of JA, she is passionately involved with FBLA, Economics Club, and Biology Olympiad. In the future, Vanshika hopes to pursue a career in the business or science fields.
“We at JA of New Jersey are incredibly excited to have a team from our community participate in this national event!” said Stephanie Karpowicz.” JA Titan® combines business with technology, which provides a great experience for students interested in exploring what entrepreneurship is like today. The fact that this team has made it to the national competition is a testament to how much these students have learned through this program.”
