ROI - Horne Named New CEO of Junior Achievement N.J.

James Horne, a veteran executive with more than two decades of experience leading human services organizations, was named the new CEO of Junior Achievement New Jersey, the group announced Thursday.

Horne, currently the CEO of United Way of Greater Union County, will assume the new role July 5. As head of JANJ, Horne will lead the organization’s work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy outreach, which impacts 87,000 K-12 students in the state.

Horne said he is eager to take on the role.

“I am proud and honored to have been chosen to lead this prominent organization,” he said. “I am passionate about equipping young people with the tools needed to become critical thinkers, challenging them to be innovative and developing them into the leaders of tomorrow.

“I look forward to joining a team of highly skilled professionals and dedicated volunteers. Working together, we will ensure students experience JA’s high-quality programs to gain the skills relevant to success in their future careers and in their lives.”

Horne has spent the past 17 years leading the United Way of Greater Union County. During his tenure, he has created an extraordinary record of developing strong community partnerships, increasing organizational efficiencies, building, retaining board members and financial competence.

Horne said he has worked hard to maintain the delicate balance of dedication to mission, the need for bold entrepreneurial initiatives and the application of sound business management needed to run a successful nonprofit organization.

JANJ board Chair Christine LaCroix said Horne is a great fit for the job.

“We are excited about the appointment of James,” she said. “James brings a great deal of expertise and enthusiasm for our work, and strong management skills to JA.”
