Volunteer with JA Career Success Workshop


Help Prepare Students for the Future and Set Them Up for Success!

JA Career Success Workshop is a statewide initiative that connects high schools, higher education, and the business community in an effort to close the employability skills gap and prepare NJ students for success after graduation.

Volunteers from all industries and backgrounds spend a half day mentoring and coaching students through a series of engaging activities while sharing career advice and their world of work. No advanced preparation is required. JA provides all the materials, and are with you every step of the way!

As a JA Career Success Workshop volunteer, you will...

  • Work with a small group of students and mentor them through a series of  hands-on activities that build employability skills such as business communication, teambuilding, and critical thinking.
  • Offer advice and share information about your career, helpful skills and education needed to find a job of get hired in your industry.
  • No advanced preparation is required - JA provides all the materials. 

 

A Typical Volunteer Schedule:

9:00 Volunteer Arrival and Orientation

9:30 Student Arrival and Welcoming Remarks

10:00 Morning Activities

11:30 Lunch/break (lunch is provided to volunteers)

12:00 Afternoon Activities

1:00 Volunteer time concludes

Unable to stay for the entire time - don't worry, you can always split the day into shifts with a friend or colleague (9-11, 11-1).
