Impact

The Program Coordinator oversees the quality and operations of JA BizTown and JA
Finance Park student program events that take place at the JA Education Center, Edison, NJ. Both two-part
learning experiences that start in the classroom with hours of lessons and conclude with real-world simulations,
BizTown provides 5th and 6th graders the opportunity to be adults and as they run a mini-town and economy for
a day, while Finance Park gives 7th to 12th graders real-world experience in navigating personal finance as they
build their household budgets.

The Coordinator manages the activities of volunteers, students, and part-time staff while onsite, and ensures all
activities meet quality and program implementation models and standards. Participation on any given day can
include up to 250 students in grades 5-12, their teachers/chaperones, and corporate/community volunteers
who mentor students throughout the simulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure the BizTown and Finance Park simulations are prepared daily for student visits and reset at the
conclusion of each event.
• Conduct and/or oversee volunteer training. Develop and implement tools to provide information to
volunteers and students during their day in BizTown and Finance Park.
• Solicit student and teacher feedback to improve program quality. Provide creative input to supervisor
regarding program or event enhancements and improvements.
• Supervise student arrivals, event flow, and departures for each simulation.
• Provide high quality customer service and support to all stakeholders that contribute to renewing
commitments from existing schools, educators, and volunteers involved in the program.
• Monitor program supplies and inventory to operate efficiently and reduce program costs.
• Develop and maintain BizTown and Finance Park part-time associate training and scheduling.
• Other projects as required.

Qualifications (required)

• An associate or bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
• Ability to and prior experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience working with children. Two years of classroom or business experience is strongly desired.
• Strong problem-solving skills; strong presentation and public speaking skills.
• Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Flexible with time; able to be on feet for extended periods of time.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Advanced computer skills.
